The Thicket.

The Thicket of Yvette.

The ghostly and supernatural tale of a French forest maiden.

Just ... you know, before I forgot about it.

Good Wisdom.

(from I dunno where...)

: The best thing that teachers could hope for is for their students to exceed them.

Jesus, The Son Of Man.

“In truth the earth is fair and all that is upon her is fair.

“But there is a kingdom beyond all that you behold, and therein I shall rule. And if it is your choice, and if it is indeed your desire, you too shall come and rule with me.

“My face and your faces shall not be masked; our hand shall hold neither sword nor sceptre, and our subjects shall love us in peace and shall not be in fear of us.”

Thus spoke Jesus, and unto all the kingdoms of the earth I was blinded, and unto all the cities of walls and towers; and it was in my heart to follow the Master to His kingdom.

Then just at that moment Judas of Iscariot stepped forth. And he walked up to Jesus, and spoke and said, “Behold, the kingdoms of the world are vast, and behold the cities of David and Solomon shall prevail against the Romans. If you will be the king of the Jews we shall stand beside you with sword and shield and we shall overcome the alien.”

But when Jesus heard this He turned upon Judas, and His face was filled with wrath. And He spoke in a voice terrible as the thunder of the sky and He said, “Get you behind me, Satan. Think you that I came down the years to rule an ant-hill for a day?

“My throne is a throne beyond your vision. Shall he whose wings encircle the earth seek shelter in a nest abandoned and forgotten?

“Shall the living be honoured and exalted by the wearer of shrouds?”

“My kingdom is not of this earth, and my seat is not builded upon the skulls of your ancestors.

“If you seek aught save the kingdom of the spirit then it were better for you to leave me here, and go down to the caves of your dead, where the crowned heads of yore hold court in their tombs and may still be bestowing honours upon the bones of your forefathers.

“Dare you tempt me with a crown of dross, when my forehead seeks the Pleiades, or else your thorns?

“Were it not for a dream dreamed by a forgotten race I would not suffer your sun to rise upon my patience, nor your moon to throw my shadow across your path.

“Were it not for a mother’s desire I would have stripped me of the swaddling-clothes and escaped back to space.

“And were it not for sorrow in all of you I would not have stayed to weep.

“Who are you and what are you, Judas Iscariot? And why do you tempt me?

“Have you in truth weighed me in the scale and found me one to lead legions of pygmies, and to direct chariots of the shapeless against an enemy that encamps only in your hatred and marches nowhere but in your fear?

“Too many are the worms that crawl about me feet, and I will give them no battle. I am weary of the jest, and weary of pitying the creepers who deem me coward because I will not move among their guarded walls and towers.

“Pity it is that I must needs pity to the very end. Would that I could turn my steps towards a larger world where larger men dwell. But how shall I?

“Your priest and your emperor would have my blood. They shall be satisfied ere I go hence. I would not change the course of the law. And I would not govern folly.

“Let ignorance reproduce itself until it is weary of its own offspring.

“Let the blind lead the blind to the pitfall.

“And let the dead bury the dead till the earth be choked with its own bitter fruit.

“My kingdom is not of the earth. My kingdom shall be where two or three of you shall meet in love, and in wonder at the loveliness of life, and in good cheer, and in remembrance of me.”

Then of a sudden He turned to Judas, and He said, “Get you behind me, man. Your kingdoms shall never be in my kingdom.”

Rick Warren (you think I was going to stay quiet?)

Bigotry is ignorance ... brazenly speaking out against an entire group of people is extremely negative karma.

Now ... I know that Rick Warren tries to blend a very moderate and compassionate tone with his condemnation of homosexual acts ... he still stirs the fires ... he's still a symbol of that movement so I can't just keep quiet.

I know the dogmatic religious zealots are unswayed by common sense. They will believe their book tells them to hate, and to do so righteously.

: sadly.

: Does no one trust the words of Christ, anymore? You can't quote Christ himself for anything definite when it comes to gays. Promiscuous people? Yes. Loving couples? No. The notion on that is ever vague. Like much of the Bible is.

In the Buddhist perspective ... homosexuality is such mundane activity ... and it, in addition to a host of things that MANY people are susceptible to, are to be regarded as distracting and worldly. Both Christianity and Buddhism teach forgiveness, compassion, and detachment from the world.

In that perspective, my passions, personally, are quite cool.

Like, the old testament 'eye-for-an-eye' still finds favor amongst several protestant denominations, even though it was supposedly superceded by the greater teaching of Christ to "turn the other cheek."

Because revenge is also negative and worldly.

Speaking harshly of others and judging them is negative and worldly.

Om Mani Padme Hum.

... on an aside : piercing scholarship of ancient texts reveals their context, and what it meant for societies of old for these things to transpire.

On that note, I'll leave you with a highly enlightened verse from the bible:

"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins."
1 Peter 4:8

My tangerine tree is in full fruit ... it's laden down so much the branches are drooping like a willow.

Very VERY tangy ones, this time, too. There must be 2000 some odd individual tangerines ... I run into this problem every year.

: I have to convince and beg people to come pick the fruit, because I just can't climb up 20 feet to get the top ones ... and what am I going to personally do with 2000 tangerines?

That's a LOT of Asian chicken salad ... ( when the recipe calls for mandarin oranges, you can use tangerines).

It's never a good idea.

To try to smelt down metal in your kitchen.

I learned my lesson after the first explosion ... and I am here to recommend against it.

I've been up since 4 this morning. I had a cup of coffee and did all my laundry.

: then I went to work ... in St. Petersburg, FL. If you're not familiar with the geography of this region, that's an hour commute across the bay bridge ...

... then I worked a full day building a server for the Robinson Group (who shall probably be my employers until I retire, I hope, I love those people).

: then I had to commute BACK to Valrico.

So : full work day, full on hour long commute across the Gandy bridge and I can't believe I even managed to go to the store after I got home.

I'm exhausted.

God I'm glad I don't have to commute every day.

But it's good for the soul to commune with the misery of the commuting, 9-5 masses.

Throwing shoes.

What an interesting and colorful culture the Arabs have.

I would NEVER throw my shoes ... mostly because I wear all designer shoes... very expensive insult to sling, I'd fathom.

Fine drunken reading material.

Tequila Mockingbird.

I'm feeling a little better, now (and no I am not drinking at 9 in the morning. I have to go into the office in an hour to set up a server ... which is actually fun).

But I stand in solidarity with all of those whose misery continues in relentless waves and droves.

I'm programming...

Until my eyes bleed.

Line after line after line of code.

... and if anything is off just a tiny bit ... if I forget to dot one i or cross one t, the entire thing will crash.

: So, simple perfection is what I do for a living.

do while (1) {} -- and all is absolutely perfect forever and ever.

I'm just me.

I have the same struggles as everyone else ... the struggle to fly right and keep bad karma off my tail as much as possible.

It's so funny ... a night of hanging out with my peers (all born in 1976, mind you) ... and it was corrupting enough to me that I started to watch porn, again.

Then I immediately repented for it ... but not with as much enthusiasm as last time.

It's so funny. But, I really feel, you know, "in the mix" again... human, normal ... the way I ought to be.

I'm forced to conclude that beings in higher realms are slightly psychotic.

Is freakin' boring.

Return to normality.

I want to a Christmas party, last night ... and I never felt more normal. I was actually socializing with people my age ... and everyone my age is a bit of a freak. ...

... it brought me back down to Earth, made me feel normal ... human. My mind's not dawdling around in the dizzying ethers anymore ...

It's amazing what drinking with strangers at a private party can do for the whole mode of consciousness thing.

The Anti Crust.

Is the doughy center.

Happy Birthday Lil Bro!

You disappearing freak!

Got Charlotte all worried, got me all worried ... but I know you're just ringing in the last year of your 20's ...

This time next year your age begins with a 3!

Palin's Church.

I guess I have to take it back what I said about those with greed and power not representing the lot of us.

Apparently, there's plenty of people "on the low end of the spectrum" that can fill the ranks of the disgusting.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I am the kind of person that finds good in every being, no matter how marginal.

Those who live by the sword die by the sword. I would hate to think that militancy had crawled into the gay community to such an extent that burning down a church was something they felt compelled to do.

It's stupid, anyway : the only legislation ever put before Sarah Palin denying gay rights she vetoed. She might have taken up the party's platform for the election, but that's politics.

Besides, who got elected the same night gay rights were destroyed in spirit? Obama! 70% of African Americans who voted for Obama also voted for these anti-gay amendments.

Geez, people ... find another way to take your frustrations out, and be a little smarter about it. You can't go after the African American community so you go after governors of far flung states? Oh, I want to be represented by YOUR movement, no doubt... so that you can give us all a bad name and reinforce the already rigid bigotry against our community?! You have just taken us an additional step backward.

: That is, of course, unelss the gay community is being deliberately framed by unnamed persons who had a vested interest in generating this kind of dischord within the population as a whole.

: ... in my mind such a thing is already a possibility.

I bemoan.

The morning after a long night of serious thought.

But I've finally rationalized that I don't want to live again, after this life-time. I want to return to the light, a ribbon of light to just shimmer in eternity ...

Bespoken not. Remembered not. Cared for not.

Why do I suddenly feel like Jon Stewart has my soul?

Rarely solve problems because they have an amazing ability to not listen to the people with the real solutions.

Government is corrupt and soggy.

Think of how far advanced we'd be if NASA hadn't been holding up our technology for so long? Government spells waste... it just does.

There are great inventions out there that will never get taken off the shelf ... either because they wouldn't make anyone rich or just because someone out there wants a little demented control.

: and even if the technology is proven, it takes years and years of red tape, patents, testing, setbacks and policy/fund feuds to see any of it fruit.

Sigh... too bad people are only in it for the money and power. But those who are wicked cannot speak for the rest of us, or about us, for that matter : they do not represent humanity at all, much less its finer points.

No, indeed, they represent our gullibility : that people like them have any power at all.

Life On Mars?

Okay. These are a couple of images showing what appear to be organic structures or the remnants of civilization, on Mars. Questions? Comments? Snide Remarks?

All of these images link to NASA or government sites. They're real.

Okay, here goes. This is a very recent Mars rover image. It plainly shows a geometrically uniform object in the left-hand section of the image that at first glance appears to be a piece of wood, around 3 or 4 feet long. If it's a rock, what's it doing in the middle of a washed out desert? Why is it a perfect rectangle? Click the image to enlarge.

The next image I want to show you is from the Mars Global Surveyor taken in 2004. It shows the edge of what appears to be a "forest" of organic structures, the largest of which are up to 1km in diameter. Are these alien trees on Mars? Perhaps some form of coral or a set of compound life-forms? Again, click the image to see it full-size. The data-sheet for this image is available here.

Blagojevich the disgusting.

What a healthy sack of ripe shit that man is, eh?

Putting the old senate seat up for sale wasn't slimy enough...

But threatening to revoke an $8 million grant for Chicago's children's hospital because its director didn't fork over 50k?!

: and we elected Obama ... a man who climbed out of the bottomless pit of Illinois politics to become president of the United States. Let's hope we're looking at an exception, here, and not the rule. -- as rules go, the one about Illinois politics is a strange bird, indeed.

Certainly, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely ... but man do they ever do it deep-dish style in Chicago.

Audacious to the 9's, Blagojevich has now refused to even resign his office. With that child-blood-sucking smirk on his face, still fresh from his attempt at the senate, himself, he goes about his day, the sheer delusions of a man who spent years being groomed to be prouder than his worth as a human being would extoll him to be.

It certainly heartens me that evil is so dumb.

My sojourn into the public stream.

I've written to elected officials (with sometimes dubious results) long enough, and I think I've finally realized that it is an inappropriate use of the public e-mail system.

Not to mention, sometimes I speak in my own code language, and elected officials and their employees simply do not have the time to just listen when I speak.

Neither does CNN for that matter.

So, on with the show! I've decided that if I'm recognized enough, I'll already have a certain amount of readership, here...

... and if you're new, stick around ... I tend to get drunk and write a LOT ... so there shall never be a dull moment.

and the government need not worry. ... I can stop from being THAT much of a loud mouth in public, thank you.
